The handheld calculator with Southern Flow proprietary programming calculates volumes using AGA Report Number 3 and NX-19 Supercompressibility formulas. The calculator prompts the user for all required variables including: chart scale, pressure settings, average differential pressure, average static pressure, flowing temperature, orifice size, specific gas gravity, CO2 mol %, N2 mol %, methane mol %, meter tube size, static pressure connection location, atmospheric pressure, pressure base, flange or pipe taps, stainless steel or monel orifice plate material, mercury or bellows type meters. Common default values are displayed to aid the input process. The program performs internal edits on all data so that no erroneous data is allowed. Given required input, the calculator displays coefficients (in Mcf/d) based on chart scale, actual volume, and allows the user to display all factors used to calculate volumes.

The calculator can also be used to compute optimum orifice plate sizes. Input the required variables, expected flow rate, and the desired average differential pressure and the calculator computes the optimum orifice plate size to use. Also, if given an expected flow rate, the calculator will compute the average differential. In addition, volumes can be stored along with estimated fuel and other usage. Simple balances can be performed on stored volumes to determine the size of lost and unaccounted for volumes.
